Mayor de Blasio is not attending Thursday’s second state Senate hearing on mayoral control of schools — drawing criticism from Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan and other Senate Republicans.
StudentsFirstNY director Jenny Sedlis accused the mayor of trying to “escape scrutiny” even though mayoral control demands accountability.
Thursday’s hearing is being held across the street from City Hall.
But the mayor — who only got a one-year renewal last year — insisted his recent four hours of testimony in Albany on the issue was sufficient.
He wants a three-year extension, which has already been approved by the Assembly.
