Public Advocate Bill de Blasio has become involved in the battle to succeed Vito Lopez as Brooklyn Democratic leader in an attempt to block the organization from endorsing rival Bill Thompson for mayor, The Post has learned.

Frank Seddio, the leading contender to take over for Lopez, has close ties to Thompson and would be expected to push his mayoral candidacy in 2013.
