It’s like a lefty version of “Back to the Future.”

Online samples of the new municipal ID card bear some suspiciously specific 1980s nostalgia for Mayor de Blasio — as a dummy image of the card gives the bearer’s birth date as March 16, 1988.

That happens to be a day President Ronald Reagan sent troops to Honduras to stop incursions by the leftist Sandinistas from neighboring Nicaragua. It’s also the day Oliver North was indicted in the Iran-Contra scandal.

De Blasio himself visited Nicaragua in 1988 as part of his youthful flirtation with the socialist Sandinista government.

City Hall said the date was nothing more than a coincidence. But not everyone is so sure.

“I doubt that’s a coincidence,” said state Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin (R-Troy). “If so, it’s an unbelievable coincidence.”
