One person was killed and nine others injured in a house fire on Staten Island Thursday morning, officials said.

Nearly 140 firefighters responded to the three-alarm blaze that broke out in a two-story home on Post Avenue near Heberton Avenue in Port Richmond at around 7 a.m. and was extinguished about two hours later, a Fire Department spokesman said.

Besides the one civilian who died, another is in critical condition, a third is in serious, but non-life-threatening condition, and five more suffered minor injuries. A firefighter and an EMS worker also sustained minor injuries.

The spokesman did not immediately know the age or gender of any of the victims.
