Former state Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos denied knowing his son accepted $20,000 for work he never did, a cushy gig the feds say he got thanks to his dad’s connections.
“You think Glenwood would be willing to send title insurance work to anyone’s son?” prosecutor Edward Diskant asked, referring to real estate developer Glenwood.
“You’d have to ask them,” the elder Skelos responded in a second day on the stand in his own defense.
“The fact that you controlled legislation had nothing to do with that payment?” Diskant then asked.
“Absolutely, so help me God,” said the Long Island Republican, 70.
The father-son duo are charged with using Dean Skelos’ position to strong-arm companies into giving Adam Skelos, 36, do-nothing gigs.
Dean Skelos did not take the stand at his first trial in 2015, which was overturned on appeal. Since he began testifying Friday, he has admitted having asked companies lobbying him to give his son jobs. But he claims he never traded those favors for legislative action.
