WEST MILFORD, NJ — Authorities have not identified the decomposed body of a woman found in a car that was submerged in a northern New Jersey reservoir.

A West Milford police dive team that was training in the Monksville Reservoir made the discovery in 18 feet of water on Wednesday.

The Record newspaper reports the car appeared to match the make and model that an Oakland woman was last seen driving in March 2008. Police said 49-year-old Cathy Ann DeBono had driven off without her purse from the home she shared with her husband and daughter.

Authorities are awaiting more information from the Passaic County Medical Examiner’s Office.
