Delta Air Lines said it has canceled about 500 Christmas Day flights ahead of a storm expected to hit the US East Coast, Fox News Channel reported Friday.

The airline canceled about 300 flights in and out of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and another 200 at other airports around the country, according to a Delta spokesperson.

Delta, along with Continental, United and AirTran, will waive penalties for travelers who are forced to reschedule their trips over the weekend due to weather.

The Northeast could see a white Christmas, with a storm expected that may include rain, sleet and snow, according the National Weather Service.
