A music-loving Midtown dentist claims that a disgruntled patient cannot make a federal case out of a $4,766 bill.
Stacy Makhnevich — who bills herself as the “Classical Singer Dentist of New York” — wants a Manhattan federal judge to toss a suit filed by a Maryland man who claims she overcharged for a filling.
Makhnevich contends that former New Yorker Robert Lee’s alleged damages don’t come close to the $75,000 minimum required for filing a suit in federal court.
Last year, Lee filed a class-action complaint against Makhnevich over her practice of making people promise not to criticize her work before she’d agree to treat them.
Lee’s lawyers didn’t respond to a request for comment.
