Commuters on the Long Island Railroad can expect long delays this morning after an Amtrak train derailed yesterday in a tunnel under the East River the two lines share, blocking it.
The LIRR cancelled 13 morning trains; is terminating another six at Jamaica; and rerouted three trains to Brooklyn and one to Hunters Point. It also was not immediately clear if Amtrak trains to New England, which use the tunnel, would be affected.
