Filled with toxins since 9/11, the Deutsche Bank tower at Ground Zero has finally been cleared of contaminants and is about to be taken apart and carted away, officials said yesterday.

“With respect to 130 Liberty St., the abatement is done,” Lower Manhattan Development Corp. Chairman Avi Schick announced.

Engineers had previously estimated it would take six months to take down the tower once it was cleaned. But a new, more conservative approach will add several months to the job — although officials insist it will be done before the end of 2010.

The project was begun in 2006 and was supposed to take two years. But a blaze in August 2007 that killed two firefighters brought work to a standstill until last May.

Schick said he expected the city to approve the deconstruction plan within a week.
