For the first time, scientists have given several diabetic patients blood vessels grown in a lab from donated skin cells.

The experiment in Poland — a step toward creating ready-to-use veins and arteries for dialysis patients, soldiers with damaged limbs and others — was featured yesterday in an American Heart Association Webcast on cutting-edge science.
