LOS ANGELES — “Rain Man” director Barry Levinson is in talks to replace fired director Nick Cassavetes on the upcoming movie “Gotti: Three Generations,” The Wrap reported Tuesday.
Executive producer Mark Fiore fired Cassavetes in April because of scheduling conflicts with another movie Cassavetes was shooting, sources close to the production told entertainment website TMZ.
The film, which will profile the family of notorious mob boss John Gotti, is set to star John Travolta as Gotti, with veteran actor Joe Pesci as Gotti’s close friend Angelo Ruggiero.
Levinson’s other directing credits include “Diner,” “Disclosure,” “Good Morning Vietnam” and “You Don’t Know Jack,” HBO’s 2010 biopic about right-to-die activist Jack Kevorkian.
