From allegedly cooking the books to cooking the food.
Disgraced Brooklyn Assemblywoman Pamela Harris’ attorney has asked a judge to let her travel to New Jersey for a part-time catering job while she awaits trial on fraud and witness-tampering charges.
Jerry Goldfeder wrote that Harris, 57, “has just obtained” a “qualifying certificate for food protection” and “secured part-time employment providing catering in New York City and New Jersey.”
Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn have not objected. The letter did not name the company.
Harris’ request to federal Magistrate Judge Robert Levy comes six months after she was indicted for allegedly stealing $60,000 in government money meant to fund a charity for children and to help Hurricane Sandy victims. According to prosecutors, she used the money to pay for pricey vacations, lingerie and personal bills.
She has pleaded not guilty.
