Disturbing graffiti threatening to shoot police officers and their wives appeared on a Westhampton road last week, authorities said Thursday.

The alarming messages, which included “COPS WILL BE SHOT” and “POOR > RICH,” were found written in black spray paint on the sidewalk along South Road near Beaver Dam Creek, Suffolk County police said.

Another message on the same sidewalk read, “WHBPD=DEATH” — an apparent reference to the Westhampton Beach Police Department, police said.

The words “COPS WIVES GET SHOT 2” and “SHOOT COPS 4 FUN” were discovered scrawled on the center yellow lines on Baycrest Avenue near Bishop Avenue, a tree-lined residential block, police said.

The anti-cop graffiti was spotted around 9 a.m. Jan. 27, but Suffolk County authorities believe the crime was committed the previous day.

The discovery comes less than a week after Officers Jason Rivera, 22, and Wilbert Mora, 27, were fatally shot during a domestic disturbance call in Harlem.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
