An 11-year-old homicide has been solved with newly acquired DNA evidence, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The cold case involved the 1999 murder of Staten Island mother Naomi Ortiz.
Prosecutors recently obtained the DNA of a man named Carl Allen, who was a suspect in the slaying but never arrested. The sources said it matches DNA found at the Stapleton crime scene.
It’s unclear how authorities acquired Allen’s DNA.
Prosecutors presented the evidence to a grand jury, which indicted him for the murder, sources said.
Authorities expect Allen to turn himself in.
