Cops on Monday released an image of a distinctive tattoo found on a body that washed up on the Staten Island shoreline in early May — in the hopes that someone will recognize it and help identify the deceased man.
A passerby discovered the body in the rear of 135 Edgewater St. on Friday, May 3 at around 3:20 p.m., police said.
The man’s right wrist has a tattoo of a five-pointed star enclosed with a circle.
He is described as 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-6 and 125 to 150 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, dark colored socks and red Puma sneakers with white stripes.
A medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death, police said.
