An inmate’s family won a $1.7 million award against the state after a doctor blamed his failure to diagnose the man’s cancer “on God . . . not the state of New York,” a judge ruled.

Scott DeGina, 58, had complained of severe pain in 2009 when he was locked up at the upstate Clinton Correctional Facility for DWI, say court papers filed by lawyer Ted Novick.

He was diagnosed with kidney stones by a first doctor, who recommended he follow up with a urologist.

But Dr. Richard Adams, who treated DeGina afterward, never sent him to one, and made the flippant remark in testimony last year.

DeGina died last May, seven months after his lawsuit against the state went to trial.
