An ex-lawyer disbarred for stealing $64,000 from his clients did not disclose his shady history when hired as a teacher a decade ago — and a Department of Education background check failed to find it.

David Jampol, 58, teaches at the Urban Action Academy on the Canarsie campus in Brooklyn. A former real-estate lawyer in Long Island, he surrendered his law license in 2004 after a court probe.

Jampol applied for a DOE job, and when asked on a “moral questionnaire” such things as whether he ever “had a professional certificate or license denied, revoked or suspended,” he responded “No.”

The DOE could simply have searched on Google, which turns up a 2004 court document showing his disbarment. The DOE would not answer questions about its background check. Jampol did not return calls from The Post.
