A cruel Bronx man pointed a gun at his girlfriend’s head — but turned it on her pit bull instead and pulled the trigger, cops said.
Daniel Gruezo, 30, was in a heated squabble with his sweetheart at her Wakefield pad Friday when he aimed the .38 caliber revolver at her, authorities said.
“Oh you don’t think I will? I’m not about that life, don’t f–k with me,” Gruezo allegedly spat at the woman.
But instead of blasting his girlfriend, he opened fire on her young pooch, Gracie, striking the pup in the right shoulder, cops said.
The bullet tore through Gracie’s white and brown abdomen and exited her chest, cops said.
“There was blood everywhere,” said a police source who responded to the gruesome scene, which unfolded around 8:20 p.m.
The terrified woman then sat with her bleeding, crying dog, court papers show.
Later, the 1¹/₂-year-old canine was “running all over the place,” the source added.
Gracie was taken to the ASPCA and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
Gruezo’s girlfriend, 29, stayed mum about the cold-hearted act but told The Post she’s happy her furry friend isn’t too ruffed up.
“She is doing good. She is doing really great,” the owner said Saturday.
One neighbor said he heard the chaos.
“I heard the shot. ‘Pop!’ Just one shot,” said the man who wished to be unnamed.
Gracie was always “nice” and “friendly,” he said, adding, “My granddaughter used to pet the dog. She’d pat it and it would lick her.”
Neighbor Anthony Williams said he’s seen the couple fight in the past.
“About two months ago, I saw them shouting at each other outside the apartment,” said Williams. “It’s not right what he did. The humane society should come after him.”
Gruezo was arraigned Saturday on weapon possession, animal cruelty, reckless endangerment, menacing and harassment charges, police said.
