The lost dog’s back — but the sitter’s gone for good.

Wag, the “Uber for Dogs” app, says a Manhattan Chihuahua one of its sitters lost weeks ago has been found alive and was not dognapped by a pitbull-fighting ring as feared — but admitted the worker lied about what happened and has been fired.

The North Bergen, NJ, woman who was booked to care for 4-year-old Sweets claimed the dog escaped from her back yard June 17, but later said the pooch ran away after her sister-in-law left the door open.

“She was scared, she realized she had lost a dog . . . so she panicked,” said Wag spokeswoman Dini von Mueffling.

The sitter also said dog-fighting rings in the area kidnap Chihuahuas to use as “bait,” a local dog rescuer involved in the search told The Post.

But Sweets was actually being cared for a few blocks away by a family that contacted Wag after seeing a missing poster at the vet.

Sweets is at least the ninth New York dog lost by Wag since 2015.
