There are four favorite words that Mayor Bloomberg invariably utters when making a new appointment to the administration: Don’t screw it up.
It turns out that’s the version he employs in public.
In a visit this morning to a midtown meeting of the city’s Workforce Advisory Board, which oversees federally-funded jobs programs, Bloomberg elicited some lound laughs when he told a new appointee in front of several dozen people:
“I always say to people who join our administration, `Don’t screw it up.’ Although, generally, if it was just you and me I would use a different word.”
