Drivers will soon be able to pre-pay Muni-Meters citywide up to an hour before enforcement goes into effect, the DOT said on Wednesday.

Motorists can purchase a receipt one hour before, and then pay only for the time their cars are parked during regulations hours.

The DOT said if a meter goes into effect at 9, drivers can purchase a receipt one hour before but only pay for the time their car is parked.

All city meters will be changed by mid-July.

The city also began deactivating Muni-Meters last summer when parking rules don’t apply.

Brooklyn Councilman David Greenfield passed legislation on both meter upgrades in June 2013. The city was given two years to implement the changes.

Other Muni-Meter legislation recently proposed includes a bill that would spare drivers from paying for 15 minutes when there’s only a few minutes left before parking rules end.
