It’s a “sign” that Brooklyn tourism is booming.

The borough’s Downtown is getting 78 signs and kiosks with maps of the area to prevent people from getting lost.

The first two signs were unveiled outside Borough Hall today along Joralemon Street.

The 45 kiosks containing maps and locations of key destinations like the Brooklyn Bridge, along with 33 directional signs, will be installed over the next few months in 12 neighborhoods running from Fort Greene to DUMBO, officials said. They also contain directions between certain sites, historic and cultural anecdotes and subway locations.

Michael Weiss, Executive Director of the Metro Tech Business Improvement District, which is spearheading the $1.4 million plan, said “it will fill a much needed void in attracting tourists and other visitors to the fantastic array of special facilities and sites in our Downtown, making it more pedestrian friendly.”

Borough President Marty Markowitz stated, “Brooklyn has always been ‘on the map,’ but with so much to see and do here, sometimes we need a little help getting from point A to point B.”
