A 40-block swath of the West Side of Manhattan was left without water late Friday night, following a major water main break, according to the city’s Department of Environmental Protection.
DEP says customers west of Eighth Avenue from Chelsea to Hell’s Kitchen may experience loss of service, according to NY1 News.
The water main break occurred at 48th Street and 11th Avenue. Police closed off the intersection to traffic to handle floodwater pouring out of the street.
