A BMW driver grabbed his gun and shot at a van that accidentally backed into his vehicle Friday afternoon in downtown Manhattan, police sources said.

The BMW driver, Angel Rodriguez, then drove away and was stopped by police a short while later on the FDR Drive just north of 23rd street.

The incident unfolded at 4:23 p.m. across from a Japanese restaurant on Pearl Street between Pine and Wall streets.

The driver of the Ford van was parking when he accidentally struck the white BMW, whose driver popped out of his vehicle, fired once and missed.

Rodriguez, 34, then hopped back into his car and fled.

He was in police custody Friday night.
