A man punched an off-duty cop during a road rage incident in Chelsea early Sunday, cops said.

The officer was in his car, with family and friends, on West 21st Street near 6th Avenue when he pulled over along a line of double-parked vehicles around 2:15 a.m., police said.

Suddenly, a man in his 30s came running out of a nearby car and yelled, “Could you have come any closer?” before punching the officer’s car, leaving a dent, cops said. He then reached into the car and socked the officer multiple times, causing bruising to his head and face.

The officer got out of the car and struggled with his attacker, who ran off, came back and then fled again. He remains at large.

The officer, who was not in uniform at the time, refused medical attention, cops said.
