The crane collapse on the Tappan Zee Bridge will cause a nightmare for commuters well into the evening rush.
Drivers traveling on I-87/I-287 are being detoured, starting southbound at Exit 12 (West Nyack-NY Route 303-Palisades Center Drive), according to state officials.
Meanwhile, all northbound traffic is being diverted off Exit 8 (White Plains-Rye-Cross Westchester Expressway).
Officials advised using alternatives such as the George Washington, Bear Mountain and Newburgh-Beacon bridges.
The Tappan Zee is still shut down in both directions, and it’s unclear when it will be reopened.
