A Delta jet flying into JFK Friday came within 100 feet of a drone as the pilot neared the runway at about 5 p.m., authorities said.
“About a mile back, there was a drone flying just on the southwest side,” the pilot told air traffic control, ABC reported.
“At what altitude?” asked the controller.
“I’d say 100 feet below us, just off the right wing,” the pilot said.
“JetBlue, use caution,” the controller said, warning another plane, according to ABC/Channel 7.
“The one that’s ahead of you reported a drone.”
The pilot didn’t have to take any evasive action.
Delta didn’t respond to a request for comment.
