A former NYPD officer yesterday was sentenced to 25 years for using his badge to help bandits rob cocaine dealers.
Emmanuel Tavarez was hit with the prison term in federal court in Brooklyn.
Federal prosecutors had alleged that the eight-year veteran was part of a crew that pulled more than 100 holdups. They said it made off with more than 250 kilos of cocaine and $1 million in cash.
Tavarez, 31, pleaded guilty last year to charges he used his authority to stage fake police raids. He also admitted outfitting fellow robbers with raid jackets to make them look like real officers.
