A jailed auxiliary cop accused of being an armed drug courier broke down in court yesterday, babbling and blubbering in a bizarre appeal for a new lawyer.

Rafael Jimenez unexpectedly stood up in Manhattan federal court and raised a hand. Advised to consult with his lawyer first, he sat down, buried his head in his hands and began mumbling in Spanish between sobs.

His lawyer, Avi Moskowitz, told Judge Victor Marrero that Jimenez blamed Moskowitz for “sabotaging” his case and “believes it’s somehow in my power to get him released on bail.”

“We clearly are not communicating very well,” Moskowitz admitted.

Jimenez said, via an interpreter, “I am presently disabled, [and] I don’t want this attorney. Your honor, I’d die for the United States. I’ve saved many lives here in the United States. I have a certificate from President Obama congratulating me.”

But the judge told him the document was “not relevant to the prosecution before the court.”

Jimenez and retired NYPD cop Alfredo Rivera were arrested as a result of a sting operation.
