City Council members yesterday called for changes in the way parades are handled after a slew of shootings marred Monday’s West Indian Day march in Brooklyn.

Councilman Peter Vallone (DQueens) said all options, including canceling violenceprone parades, must be considered.

Councilman Vincent Ignizio (RStaten Island) also called for a “crackdown” on parade violence.

Councilwoman Letitia James (DBrooklyn) said canceling the West Indian parade “is not an option.” But she said organizers and city officials “need to sit down and put our heads together” to do better at “preventing and reducing violence.”
