He was caught red-handed.
A blubbering bank robber was busted with his hands still red from exploded dye packs, Manhattan prosecutors said yesterday.
Maverick Madore, 20, gave cops a full confession about the Midtown robberies, detailing how he and Frank Mione made three trips from New Hampshire “specifically to rob banks,” a law enforcement source said.
The baby-faced bandit stole $7,570 from a Capital One on Thursday, but a dye pack in the money blew up and stained his hands red, Assistant District Attorney Brian Hayward said at Madore’s arraignment last night.
Madore abandoned the stained cash and tried to rob a Bank of America, but was turned away because of his marked hands. But the persistent crook then robbed an Investors Bank of $3,800, Hayward said.
The mostly unsuccessful spree ended when cops responded and pursued a fleeing Madore, who drove his car into a building near the Lincoln Tunnel and was caught when he tried to flee on foot.
Madore — who bawled his eyes out during his interrogation — said he turned to the life of a bank robber because he was homeless after losing his job. He hooked up with Mione, 47, who has a previous arrest for bank robbery, according to sources.
Prior to the Thursday spree, the suspects allegedly hit two Manhattan banks in two minutes on April 12 — and then knocked over another five in a single day almost a month later.
They walked away with more than $25,000 from those jobs, sources said.
Madore was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center from the Midtown South Precinct yesterday when he appeared to be suffering a seizure — but sources said he was likely faking it.
Mione was still at large as of last night.
