It’s about to get a lot less E-Z on the wallets of bridge-and-tunnel toll beaters.
Fines will soon double for motorists who blast through the E-Z Pass lanes at all six Port Authority crossings, including the Lincoln and Holland tunnels and the George Washington Bridge.
The Port Authority approved a hike to scofflaw penalties this week from $25 to $50, effective Nov. 15.
It’s the first fee change for toll evasion since EZ-Pass was installed on the crossings in 1997.
The agency raked in a whopping $6.5 million in fees last year, and they expect to double that figure once the fines go up next year, said spokesman Ron Marsico.
