Eight firefighters suffered minor injuries battling a fire at two residential buildings on Staten Island.

Fire officials say the blaze at the two adjoining buildings, at 27 and 29 Mada Ave., erupted around 3 a.m. Monday.

Nearly 160 firefigthers responded after officials issued a fourth alarm for the fire at 4:30 a.m. in order to bring extra personnel to the scene.

Fire officials got the blaze under control at 5:47 a.m.
