An elderly couple was shot dead in Canarsie early Saturday in an apparent murder-suicide, according to a police source.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man, Vincent Tropeano, shot the woman, Elaine Tropeano, and turned the gun on himself, a police source said.

Officers arrived at the couple’s home about 7:15 a.m. after a 911 caller alerted them of the gunshots.

The 74-year-old man and 63-year-old female were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head when police got there, a law enforcement source said.
