An elderly couple died side by side Monday night when they crashed their station wagon into a light pole in the parking lot of a store in Queens, cops said.

Anthony Ledic, 87, was driving his 1989 Mercury station wagon with his 89-year-old wife, Milenka outside of BJ’s in College Point when he lost control at around 9:15 p.m. and smashed head on into the concrete barrier around a light pole, police sources said.

Anthony also sideswiped a parked grey minivan in the lot, but no one was inside.

Both husband and wife were declared dead at the scene.

The couple had been renovating the exterior of their Whitestone home. Contractor Angelo Moran, 47, broke down in tears when he showed up at their home on Tuesday to learn the tragic news.

“They are wonderful people,” said an emotional Moran, recalling that Anthony was painting ironwork on Monday afternoon. “He’s always outside trying to help us. “

The husband was a retired engineer and his wife a former pediatrician who operated a practice out of their home.

Neighbors said there was a block party held this past summer to celebrate the neighborhood’s 50th birthday — and that the couple was among the few who were original homeowners, from a half-century ago.

“Oh no, the cats! They have three cats that live inside,” Moran said. “Cookie is [Anthony’s] favorite [cat]. He introduced me to the cat before the wife.”
