An elderly man was fatally mowed down by a 79-year-old motorist in Co-Op City in The Bronx this morning, authorities said.
71-year-old Jerrold Chaleff had been walking in a parking lot inside a shopping center on Bartow Avenue near Co-Op City Boulevard about 9 a.m. when he was struck by a Ford Focus driven by Ruben Delgado, 79, sources said.
The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Delgado was questioned at the scene but was not charged with a crime, and no summonses were issued, police said.
The victim’s name was being withheld by police pending notification of his family.
