An 83-year-old man shot himself in the head in front of his wife’s grave Friday, authorities said.
Robert Gallo, of Queens, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital. He died there several hours later.
The suicide took place inside St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens at about 3:30 p.m.
Cemetery workers found Gallo lying next to the grave with the weapon by his side.
A spokesman for the Diocese of Brooklyn said the workers immediately recognized the man because he frequently visited the grave, according to The Queens Tribune.
His family could not be reached Friday night.
