A man plummeted 10 floors to his death down an elevator shaft of a 13-story commercial building yesterday morning in Midtown, police said.

Robert Melito, 44, of Staten Island, an elevator technician for Transel Elevator Inc., plunged at 10:17 a.m. at 230 W. 38th St between Seventh and Eighth avenues.
