Eleven pit bulls used for dog fighting were rescued by police conducting a search warrant in a Harlem, authorities said Sunday.
Police and NYC Animal Care and Control personnel responded to a building on West 112th Street near Manhattan Avenue at 6:45 a.m. June 11 after receiving numerous 311 complaints.
They discovered the pooches in a basement kept in “terrible” condition and equipment used for dog fighting.
Brandon Baez, 41, was arrested and hit with charges that included aggravated cruelty to animals, torturing and injuring animals and training an animal to fight.
