Coney Island Hospital’s troubled laboratory has lost an important accreditation.
The College of American Pathologists revoked the credential, saying the lab “did not meet the standards of the CAP Accreditation Program.” The college accredits over 7,000 clinical labs in the US and internationally.
The city-run hospital lab has been unable to do blood typing for transfusions following the 2013 death of an 84-year-old patient who was given the wrong blood type.
