From a pressing indictment to the Presidential Inauguration.

Embattled New York state Assemblyman William Boyland, Jr. is taking a break from preparing for his upcoming corruption trial to travel to the nation’s capital and attend President Obama’s inauguration this weekend.

Brooklyn federal Judge Sandra Townes approved Boyland’s request to travel today down to Washington and attend the nation’s 57th Inaugural Ceremonies.

The Brooklyn Democrat currently is under indictment and awaiting trial on federal charges that he solicited more than $250,000 in bribes and accepted thousands of dollars in illicit payoffs in exchange for his promise to grease the wheels on local development projects.
