Easy does it — this is some airplane cargo that cannot be mishandled!

A NASA crew delicately de-planed the space shuttle Enterprise from its Boeing 747 ride yesterday morning at Kennedy Airport.

After the painstaking, eight-hour procedure, the Enterprise was parked under a de-icing shed at JFK.

By next month, the spacecraft will move to its new home — a place where many a tourist has been before, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum off the West Side of Manhattan. That final journey will come via a huge barge that will float it through Jamaica Bay and up the Hudson River.

The shuttle should be open to the public in mid-July.
