Eric Garner’s mother slammed an NYPD lieutenant who described her son’s chokehold death at the hands of cops as “not a big deal.”
“It was like a slap in the face,” Gwen Carr told The Post on Saturday.
Lt. Christopher Bannon’s comment surfaced Thursday during the departmental trial of Officer Daniel Pantaleo, who placed Garner, 43, in a chokehold in 2014 while arresting him for selling loose cigarettes.
A sergeant had texted Bannon about the fatality shortly after it occurred, prompting him to reply, “Not a big deal. We were effecting a lawful arrest.”
