The robbery suspect who skedaddled from a Brooklyn precinct station house after a veteran detective forgot to handcuff him has been apprehended after four days on the lam and charged with escape, authorities announced today.
Thomas Davtian, 27, was picked up yesterday at a friend’s house and brought back to the 61st Precinct – the very same precinct where he was last seen Tuesday on surveillance footage slipping out the front door after being busted for allegedly stealing from his 30-year-old girlfriend’s apartment, cops said.
Last night, a man claiming to be Davtian called The Post to proclaim his innocence, claiming the robbery charge was a setup by his girlfriend and another man.
During the call, he refused to surrender or meet with a Post reporter.
After Davtian initially turned himself in on Tuesday, he was held in an interrogation room as a 20-year detective working the case filled out paperwork, sources said.
The suspect’s girlfriend came to identify him at 8:35 p.m. and the detective later walked her out of the building, leaving Davtian alone for 20 minutes, sources added.
He wasn’t handcuffed to a bar in the room, as is procedure, and managed to bolt, sources said.
The detective has been suspended without pay.
