Commuters on Metro-North’s New Haven line faced crippling delays Thursday afternoon due to mechanical issues.

There were 60- to 90-minute delays on the New Haven line caused by “overhead wire damage” near Cos Cobb, a town in Greenwich, Conn., the Metro-North tweeted at noon.

The transit mess comes after a track issue in one of Amtrak’s East River tunnels snarled morning service on the Long Island Rail Road Thursday, stranding hundreds of passengers aboard one stalled train for nearly two hours.

Gov. Cuomo declared a state of emergency for the MTA Thursday morning and pledged the state would add $1 billion to fix the beleaguered system.
