Ex cop is guilty
HACKENSACK, N.J. — A former New York City police officer accused of trying to rob a suspected drug dealer at the man’s home in Rutherford has been found guilty of conspiracy and other charges.
Hector Alvarez, 31, was convicted yesterday of conspiracy, attempted theft and unlawful use of a bulletproof vest. The Record newspaper said the jury found him not guilty, however, of armed robbery, attempted robbery, burglary and criminal weapons possession.
