Avorham Gross, who changed his name from Roberto Eddy Santos after spending years in prison for violent crimes in the ’90s.The ex-Latin King gang member who converted to Hasidic Judaism only to be arrested for impersonating law-enforcement and EMS personnel “always wanted to be a cop” and even faked his way into an officer’s discount at IHOP, new court papers claim.
Avorham Gross, 40 — brought handcuffed into Brooklyn Supreme Court Monday without a yarmulke — pleaded not guilty to forgery and conspiracy raps.
“He has impersonated a host of different positions including the chief of the New York EMS,” said prosecutor Jacob Uriel.
“He’s pretended to be a police officer. He’s snuck into this very courthouse!”
Gross — who served two prison stints for robbery before his conversion — allegedly confessed his subterfuge to cops after he was collared. He assumed many titles, made an arrest and used an officer’s International House of Pancakes discount, according to court papers.
