The former head of New Jersey Transit will move to the MTA to head up its New York City Transit division.

Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim will replace Carmen Bianco, who retired in August. James Ferrara, who heads up the agency’s bridges and tunnels division, had been acting as NYCT president in the interim.

Hakim has been with NJ Transit and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for five years, but before that, she spent 23 years with the MTA, where she served as special counsel at New York City Transit and was also executive vice president and general counsel at the agency’s Capital Construction division.
