Authorities say a Staten Island nursing home aide repeatedly struck a developmentally disabled patient on the head. They say a supervisor tried to cover up the incident.
The state attorney general’s office says both workers at the Lily Pond Nursing Home have pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge. Officials say neither can work in the health care field again.
According to the Staten Island Advance, the nursing home has not been cited in connection with the 2009 incident.
In an unrelated case, a supervisor at the state-run Multiple Disabilities Unit on Staten Island is accused of choking to death a 27-year-old autistic patient last Dec. 4 instead of properly restraining him.
